About Me
I have more than 15 years of experience in User Experience/Human-Computer Interaction, having worked as a Usability/Human Factors Engineer, Information Architect, and Business Analyst. I have extensive experience in usability testing, user analysis, task analysis, content analysis, heuristic evaluation, requirements gathering, interface design, wireframe design, and rapid and interactive prototyping.
Throughout my career, I have been a lead User Experience Designer and Information Architect, heading both the user research and information architecture and interface design aspects of projects. My research tasks included conducting many stakeholder interviews, card sorts (using OptimalSort), analysis of ForeSee survey results, website content inventories and audits, and conducting multiple usability tests—both of existing websites and applications (baseline usability tests), and of interactive prototypes I created. I also produced extensive reports summarizing usability findings and developed UX Improvement Strategy reports, and I developed information architectures and navigation strategies based on the results of my research with users. I have also created interaction flows, use cases, user stories, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and design specifications, and I have documented detailed user experience specifications for highly interactive interfaces.
In my roles of Lead UX consultant and Lead Information Architect, I have performed leadership and strategic activities in addition to my project-related duties. For example, I have directed the tasks and deliverables of junior consultants, and served as a mentor as well. In addition, I identified and followed through on potential additional work for my team/company to perform for clients, leading to additional work and extended contracts.
I have experience working with a wide variety of users. While in graduate school, I led focus groups and usability tests with Deaf children in order to initiate the development of computerized linguistic testing for Deaf children. During my time at Pressco, I worked primarily with factory foremen and workers in the food, beverage, and container industry. Additionally, I have conducted usability testing and research with medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and insurance workers.
My clients have often praised my attention to detail, as well as my ability to understand the big picture and explain it in ways others can understand. I have received accolades and certificates of recognition from previous clients and employers. I am proficient in Axure, Morae, OptimalSort, and Adobe XD, as well as Microsoft Visio and Excel.
